Local economy

To achieve sustainable production and consumption modes for the environment, Iscal is committed to developing an economic model that is based on the local economy.

In order to achieve modes of production and consumption that are environmentally sustainable, Iscal is committed to developing an economic model that is based on the local economy.

This production and consumption model brings together producers and clients and allows Iscal to support local farmers. All of our beets come from production sites that are less than 65 kilometres from the factory. Regarding the distribution of products, the majority of our clients reside in Belgium.

Thanks to this model, our environmental impact is limited. This model helps us reduce CO2 emissions associated with the transport of goods.

The local economy also enables us to reenergize the territory by encouraging regional production and boosting job creation in Belgium. Iscal’s sugar industry is a major stakeholder in the region and contributes to local development: Iscal has 170 employees working full-time and generates many indirect jobs in the areas of production during our campaigns, or in maintenance between campaign periods.
